Here follows a detailed description of our 3-day program for Kumi Yama 2011. Although there is no superpipe this year, our slopestyle course is beyond anything ever done before on Les 2 Alpes’ glacier! Also new this year, a slopestyle course and a contest just for kids since they always have a something to say...and not necessarily in Japanese!

Wildcard Contest AM & PRO Open to everyone!
To participate: Build your own team of 3 of either category (snowboard or freeski). Then, show up in Les 2 Alpes. That’s it!
On the day: 3 runs will be judged in order to qualify for the final round. Don’t forget, ride as a group!
Your team might be chosen to participate in Saturday’s contest, July 2nd! Your chances are even greater with more than 5 wildcards chosen in each discipline. However, it’s no easy feat and the competition will get tough! So, prepare to compete against guest teams with main stars such as team Level 1, French crews and sharp-elbowed European teams.
How to enter?
It’s really simple! Go to Les 2 Alpes on Thursday, June 30th. Sign-ups are at Smithy's Bar from 3pm to 7pm. There will be a fee of 20 Euros for the kimono-style number bib. However, you will receive an original Japanese welcome gift, a “Yokoso Pack”! You will also receive a complete program guide. Read it! It will provide you will all there is to know about the 2011 Kumi Yama edition. Another way to enter the contest is to sign-up beforehand. KUMI YAMA is not only a boy thing! Last year, several teams composed of girls came to fight in the middle of the kamikazes. It caught our attention and this year, in partnership with NIKITA, we are please to announce that the first girl team will be rewarded on the podium, will win cash and will be free to spend it as they wish to KUMI YAMA Party ;) Ladies, you just need to compose a team of 3 riders: 100% snowboard, 100% ski or both snowboarders and skiers. Yes, you have read correctly, for girls only, mixed team will be accepted.

SATURDAY July 2nd 2011 : SLOPESTYLE « KAMIKAZE » CONTEST
The highlight of the event, this “kamikaze” slopestyle contest in teams of three presents its “arcade issue” of a much longer, crazier edition. Both categories, the snowboard and the freeski, will first have teams compete in three jam sessions in order to qualify for the final round. Then, each qualified team will compete battle-style. The heat is on!
The awards ceremony will take place in Les 2 Alpes at “place de l’OT” at 6pm. Profits from drinks will be donated to Japan’s disaster victims. Later in the evening, sake will be served with its accompaniments.
SUNDAY July 3rd 2011 : Kumi Yama Kids & Best Tricks
This year, best tricks on our new course features will take place on Sunday. One-on-one authentic jam sessions, we’ll see who will stand up to Kazu Kokubo on the hip or who will have the last word on the Pacman XXL...
But that’s not all!
In a partnership with DA CAMP, Kumi Yama finally presents a made-for-kids slopestyle course. Kids ages 9 to 14 will be able to take part in the event and enjoy their own contest. Since this is a big event, we are happy to announce that Aspen Spora, Kelly Sildaru, Laurie Blouin & Francis Jobin will join us as blond-headed mentors! They will open the contest and ride just for fun and show us why their feats have record hits on the web!
In short, Kumi Yama Kids is:
- A freestyle contest for 9-14 years old atop Europe’s highest glacier!
- A unique 3-rider format for the slopestyle in both freeski and snowboard categories.
- Japanese inspired original features.
- The best current young mentors!

PHOTO PRO/AM contest
PRO/AM PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
Passionate about photography? Both ams and pros are invited for 3 days of shooting the best runs and riders at the KUMI YAMA as well as lifestyle and more. You might have already noticed the contest has a new format... Out with the old (photo/graphic) and in with the new! No more photoshop & co...just simple original photography! Each participant will need to submit 3 pictures (3 themes), all of which follow specific pre-established guidelines and inspired by tricks on the slopestyle course. This year, the public is the one to vote their favorite top 3 photographs along with the participation of our sponsors and media, Burn Energy Drinks and Pentax.

Inspiration should come easy with all the good stuff we have lined up! Prepare yourself and come join the fun! Amateurs and pros will be judge on the same level. To participate, you need to send a short c.v. or a web link allowing us to see some of your best pictures at agency@like-that.fr. Once confirmed, you can proceed and get ready for the “great battle”.
